Christopher "Critter" Talbot Heckman, age 38, passed away on Thursday, June 22 at his home in Goodview. Christopher was born on December 22, 1984 in Winona, MN, the son of Geoffrey and Pamela (Heckman) Fuersteneau. He was raised in Elba, MN. and it was a wild ride!
Christopher taught us all to Love with your whole heart and Hug with your whole soul.
Christopher had an enormous heart; he is known for his selfless nature that made everyone around him feel close, safe, and cared for. Christopher had his struggles but they didn't define his love for his family and friends. His incredible desire to help others gave him a meaningful purpose in life. He was very proud of his time spent at the Salvation Army Rehabilitation in Minneapolis, which was a pivotal turning point in his life. He always strived to learn new things, and was immediately talented in what he set his mind to. He also had an endless, infectious, and witty sense of humor that was certain to be shared among everyone he knew. He enjoyed time spent outdoors camping with his children and friends, as well as playing video games and sharing a laugh with his friends and family, sometimes at their expense.
Christopher will remain forever in the hearts of his parents Geoff and Pam Fuerstenau; fiancee Sarah Clay, his children; Anna Todd, Marshall Kieffer, Dimarko Rice, Markus Olson, and Christian and Connor Fuerstenau, sister's; Gennafer (Marshall) Schmideknecht-Aune, Sarah (Kyle) Glover, brother, Shane (Jill) Finnerud, nieces and nephews, Ethan, Jaxson, Madoxx, Rhyker, Kyson; Many close cousins, Aunts, Uncles, extended family and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grand parents, George & Tressa Heckman, paternal grandparents Gordon & Joyce Fuerstenau; niece, Morgan. Uncles, Mark and Charlie, Cousins, Jeffery, Zachary, David and Ryan

What an awful tragedy! This man was one of the good ones. I hadn't seen him in a few years but I will never forget how much of a gentlemen he was. He always looked out for me and other women and made sure that we were safe. He was like a brother to me. The last time I saw him was at a convention. He looked so good and healthy! I prayed that he would stay that way. Sometimes God calls us back home earlier than we want. I will keep his family in my prayers. To his mom, thank you for raising such a gentlemen. You did a great job.

Chris , you are a once in a lifetime kind of friend and im so lucky to have had the chance to know you and have such wonderful memories. I will cherish everytime you made me laugh and thats all we did it seems! I miss your smile that could light up the night's sky. The good that radiates from within you was almost as contagious as your laugh. You made people want to be better. Ill forever long for one more hug that not even an earthquake could shake. I will forever miss you, its not goodbye cuz ill see you later

Critter could be a wild spontaneous soul but so can I and even when he was pulling some crazy stunt, he only wanted to have a great laugh and a good story to tell with his friends years later. Like the time he was working on the road and had a few too many and decided he wanted to ride this old man's scooter he had every intention of returning it but thought riding it in the motel he was in would be a good story and had it longer than he realized.i believe he even brought it to his room and fell asleep. Now it wasn't pleasant when the old man reported him but man did it make for a good story of harmless drunk fun. That's how we connected. He hated confrontation and had a great heart and was usually making light of any serious argument his friends were getting into trying to play peacemaker. I haven't seen critter in years but I will cherish the memories I was lucky to make with him. A good genuine soul gone too soon

I'm not sure what to say. Chris had this inner joy that radiated even when times were difficult. The world lost a good one.
