Chris J. Johnson

Christopher J. "Bear" Johnson, age 62 of Appleton, WI passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 2, 2022. He was born to Bill and Dorothy (Baeten) Johnson on November 4, 1959 in Appleton, WI. Chris graduated from Xavier High School with the class of '78. He married the love of his life, Karoline Mach on September 3, 1988 and together, they raised 4 beautiful girls. Chris was a dedicated inspection frame worker, working at Asten Johnson for over 44 years.
When not ensuring his family was well taken care of, Chris loved hunting, bowling, darts, and music. He loved watching the Packers play. He enjoyed going up north every year with his annual fishing crew and having a "giant" fish fry. He was a lifetime member of the Catholic Church and found a great deal of strength in his faith. Chris loved spending as much time with his immediate and extended family as possible. He took pride in his family and he loved them more than anything else in the world.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Dorothy; his twin, Simon in utero; his infant brother, Francis; his brother-in-law, Lauren; and his sister-in-law, Camille.
Chris is survived by his wife, Karoline; his daughters, Amanda, Kimberly, Danielle (Joe), Kaitlyn (Chris); his granddaughter, Gena; his siblings, Michael, Karen, Marcia (Steve); his in-laws, Duane and Pat; numerous siblings-in-law as well as many other nieces, nephews, and extended relatives and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held for Chris on Saturday, June 11 from 12-1 PM at St. Paul Parish, 410 Wallace St, Combined Locks, WI 54113 with a mass to follow at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to show your love with a donation to the American Diabetes Association, an organization he was truly passionate about.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Appleton Fire and Police Departments for showing so much love and support when it was needed. Also a special thanks to Thedacare Regional Medical Center – Appleton and Ascension – St. Elizabeth Hospital for the care and compassion they showed during this tragic time.
