Christa Grabski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors - Utica on Jul. 22, 2025.
Christa Grabski, age 98, of Sterling Heights, July 20, 2025, beloved wife of the late Richard. Dear mother of George (Kathleen) Grabski, Rita (George) Madjarev and Michael (Barbara) Grabski. Beloved Oma of grandchildren Erica (Michelle) Grabski , Jenny (Roger) Shelton, Mark (Jenn) Madjarev, Alex (Susan) Grabski and Grace (Ryan) Nichols. Beloved Oma, to great grandchildren Preston and Sloan Madjarev, Eliot Grabski and Ian Matt (Nichols). Christa was born in Kassel Germany, December 22, 1926, to George and Gertrude Balz. Christa endured many hardships during WWII and lost many friends when much of the city was destroyed by numerous bombings. After the war ended, she met Richard who was working as a hospital guard after he was liberated from Auschwitz by the Americans. They fell in love and were married in 1947, had their first child George and immigrated to Michigan in 1949 and had two more children, Rita and Michael. Hardship continued for Christa and Richard with jobs being scarce, but their hard work, perseverance and faith carried them through those times. They raised their children in the Catholic tradition and taught them all the values and morals they grew up with. Christa was devoted to her faith and became a Eucharistic Minister at St. Louise Church in Warren and later joined the Charismatic Prayer Group which changed her life forever. She encouraged her husband to join as well. Her deep faith in God continued to the very end of her life. She devoted her life to praying for her family, her friends and for anyone who needed help and prayers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Christa's life with a visitation to be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 2:00pm through 8:00pm,with a prayer service and sharing of memories at 7pm from the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd.(3 Blks E. of Van Dyke), Utica, MI 48317 Memorial donations to the ALS of Michigan 24359 Northwestern Hwy.
