Christian Joseph Islas-Stauffer

Christian Joseph Islas-Stauffer, known to all as CJ, passed away on July 21, 2025, in the Intensive Care Unit at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska, at the age of 31.
Born and raised in Juneau, Alaska, on May 8, 1994, CJ was a beloved son, husband, father, and brother. He recently moved to Anchorage in February 2025 to be closer to his immediate family.
Throughout his life, CJ explored various career paths, most recently working as a waiter and bartender at Olive Garden. He also co-owned the business CJ Home Improvement and Construction with his father. He was known for his dedication and work ethic in both his endeavors.
CJ graduated from high school in Juneau and was baptized into the Church of Latter-Day Saints in April 2008. He enjoyed spending his free time hiking, riding his motorcycle, working out at the gym, rock climbing, taking driving trips, and attending family events. CJ will be remembered for his kindness, his smile, and his helpful nature.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldyn Puente, his parents, Rachel Erin Stauffer and Jose Avilez Islas, his siblings, Tristan and Bianca Islas-Stauffer, his daughter, Adilynn Islas-Stauffer, and his grandparents, Phyllis Hester and Wayne Stauffer. He also leaves behind his uncles Stanley Stauffer, Sid Smith, Antonio Islas, and Olivier Guns. Aunts Angie Garner, Elizabeth Smith, Leticia Islas, Luisa Islas, Obdulia Islas, and Veronica Islas. CJ is also survived by his cousins, Arthur and Emilie Guns, Paola and Jugo Islas, Leah and Kelsi Sell, Alisha Sell, Brian Heck, Kathleen Martin, Mary Francis Griggs, Todd Smith, Jaret Reid, and Gabby and JoJo Griggs, Austin and Brayden Smith, Sydnee McGinley, and many more cousins he hadn't had the opportunity to meet.
CJ was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Jose Islas-Duran and Juanita Avilez de Islas. Uncle Jerry Garner.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Anchorage on August 24th at 5pm at the Abbott Pavilion. A second Celebration of Life will be held in Juneau on September 20th. More details to come later for the Juneau celebration. Refreshments will be provided at both events, and guests are welcome to bring a dish to share.
