Christina Clemencia Gomez Lloyd

Christina Clemencia Gomez Lloyd passed away peacefully in the early hours of All Saints' Day, November 1, 2025. Daughter of Jesus Eleodoro Gomez and Maria Gumecinda Gonzales, she was born on November 15, 1933, and grew up happily and entirely in Las Vegas, New Mexico with her two brothers Carlos and Tony (whom she both outlived), graduated from Highlands University of that city, and began her business career at Sandia Labs in the 1950's. There she met George Marvin Lloyd, future Commander, US Navy; after a short engagement they married on September 3, 1960. Together, they enjoyed a long, fruitful, and storied career in the Navy, and raised four sons.

Her husband passed away in 2002. After a time, she continued with great intensity the ancestral research they had begun together after both had retired. She actively pursued this for another twenty years. She became a respected and published scholar on New Mexico family histories and was proud of tracing her own lineage back to the 1500's.

She was raised, lived and died in the Catholic faith, which was always a source of spiritual guidance and sustenance for her, and which remained so to her last moments of this earthly realm. At the time of her passing, she was looking forward to having a fun time on her 92nd birthday on November 15 and hoping to continue her many artistic endeavors and social engagements, all of which were also significant elements of her retired life, and which brought great joy to her family and friends.

Humble, caring, generous and wise beyond words, she met life matter of factly, with utmost integrity, and when necessary with a precise and well-honed sense of humor that could be devastating but never mean spirited. She is survived and greatly missed by her sons and their families and all who knew her.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 21, 2025, 10:00 a.m., at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11509 Indian School Rd. NE, in Albuquerque. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
