Christine Estelle Sadley Horton Baron, 74, a loving mother, grandmother, and wife, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, in Dundee, Michigan. Born on October 7, 1949, in Detroit and raised in Wayne, Michigan, she dedicated a significant part of her life to raising her three children and her four grandchildren, who she is survived by: Lyndsey Horton Martin (husband John and children Cameron and Alexander), Lauren Horton Carlson (children Quentin and Sullivan with their father Brian), and Luke Horton (partner Adriana), with their father, Dennis Horton. Later she shared 23 wonderful, loving years of marriage with her husband Kurt Baron, who dedicated himself to caring for her tirelessly for many years, and who survives her. As her son Luke held her hands, we believe that she was welcomed into heaven by her heavenly Father and her parents, whom she missed dearly, Walter and Carole (Champagne Tebo) Sadley who preceded her in death. She was the fifth of nine surviving children, Patti (dec.), Thomas (dec.) Dorothy, Katherine, Charles (dec.) Michael, Timothy (dec.) and William. Chris graduated from Wayne Memorial High School in 1967 and had many fond memories of attending school with her friends and being a part of the band (saxophone), synchronize swim team (Sea Sprites), and debate teams. Early on, Chris felt it was important to stay home with her children to raise and support them, and when she returned to the workforce, she was employed as an office manager for many years within the St. Joseph Mercy Healthcare System and later at NorthRidge Church. In subsequent years, when her daughters became parents themselves, she was a critically important contributor to raising and caring for Lauren's children in their early years, and she traveled consistently to care for and participate in important moments of Lyndsey's children's lives. She played an irreplaceable role in the lives of all three of her children and grandchildren, due in large part to her love of family and commitment to them. Chris found peace and purpose dedicating her time and talents to serving in her church homes in different ways. She contributed to these communities by teaching Sunday school, leading children's groups in Awana Sparks and Cubbies, and was a part of small group and women's Bible studies for many years. Chris's passion for service extended to her favorite causes outside of church as well. She was quite proud to have raised money and walked in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for Breast Cancer in Michigan multiple times. She later became involved in saving the Willow Run Bomber Plant as part of the Yankee Air Force Museum, where she and her husband, Kurt, volunteered their time to serve as security for many of the museum events. She was an important part of the group who set the Rosie the Riveter World Record in September, 2017, along with her daughter Lauren, when 3,734 women came together to set the record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Rosie the Riveter. Chris passed away after dementia slowly took her from us over the course of nearly 10 years. She will be remembered for her kindness, her warm and bright smile, and her willingness to jump in and serve wherever she was needed. She loved grilled chicken sandwiches, coffee, Sander's bumpy cake, and dark chocolate. Her children will always remember her delicious taco salad, homemade cinnamon rolls, and honey tea to soothe stomach aches. A Celebration of Life event will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 2 p.m. at NorthRidge Church, 49555 N Territorial Road, Plymouth, Michigan, 48170, to recognize her beautiful life. The family will be receiving friends and family there beginning at 1 p.m. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Christine, please visit our Tree Store.
