Christine, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Ada (Hollinger) Gerhart, was born in Lebanon. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Alan Bashore, husband of Sharon; Gary Bashore, husband of Mary; three grandchildren, Robin Bashore, Stacy Bashore-Steury, wife of Joshua, and Eric Bashore, husband of Emily; and nine great grandchildren, Aiden, Nathan, Olivia, Paxton, Tobias, Hannah, Cameron, Lillian, and Cooper. She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Helen; and her ten brothers and sisters, Anna, Alberta, Minerva, Earla, Betty, Victor, Raymond, Ralph, John, and Earl.
She was a 1956 graduate of Bethel High School.
Christine retired after 40 years at the Hamburg Broom Works in Hamburg, PA. She was also a Fire Police Sergeant at Keystone Fire Company of Rehrersburg for 21 years, retiring in March of 2004.
She was a member of the Rehrersburg Lionetts, and a life member of the Berks County Fire Police, and the JayGee Travelers camping club.
Christine enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing bingo, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, camping, traveling, going to auctions and collecting dolls.
A service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 8, at Little Swatara Church of the Brethren, 31 Rehrersburg Rd., Bethel, PA 19507. A viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service, at the church. Burial will follow in Little Swatara Church Cemetery.
