J. Thomas Bashore of Lutherville, MD died peacefully at home on August 19th, 2025. He was born John Thomas Bashore to Anne Blodgett Bashore and John Kleiser Bashore in Lebanon, Pennsylvania on March 15th, 1941. He was welcomed home by his sister, Sandra.

Tom was the beloved husband of Catherine Wardwell Bashore and father of daughter Susan Ann Bashore and son J. Thomas "Tad" Bashore II married to Cynthia Jennings Bashore, and grandfather of Joshua William Bashore and Peter Andrew Bashore. He was the brother of Sandra Bashore Mesics married to Joseph Callender Mesics and uncle to Joseph Callender "Chip" Mesics, Jr. He was predeceased by his daughter Hope Ann Bashore and niece Laura Mesics May. Tom was also a great uncle and a great-great uncle. He was the grandson of Lebanon clothier and community leader John Sherman Bashore for whom Bashore Scout Reservation in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania is named.

Tom attended the Westminster School in Simsbury, Connecticut and graduated from Lebanon High School, Catawba College and Wake Forest Law School. After law school he practiced as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Ohio and worked in the trust department of Banc One in Columbus, Ohio. He later graduated from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia where he met his wife of thirty-three years, Catherine, and served as an Associate Pastor for Administration at First Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Virginia until retirement.

Tom was very active in the life of Broadstreet Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Ohio. He also served on the board of trustees for the Columbus Academy and the Columbus Cancer Clinic in Columbus, Ohio and St. Timothy's School in Stevenson, Maryland.

Most dear after his family and church were his four-legged companions both equine as a youth, Bonnie Jade, and canine Macey, Gingerbread, Missy, Ella and Fiona.

A Service of Witness to the Resurrection and celebration of Tom's life will be held on Sunday, August 31st at 1:00 p.m. at Havenwood Presbyterian Church, 100 East Ridgely Road in Lutherville, Maryland. An interment at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon, Pennsylvania will follow on a later date.
