Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home on Dec. 10, 2025.
Christine Eversole Daniels, age 91, departed this life on December 8, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Christine, also known as "Granny," was born January 25, 1934, in the Kodak, Kentucky coal camp to the late William (Bill) Eversole and Lizzie Madden Eversole. Three words that sum up Christine's life are family, faith, and fun. A devoted mother and homemaker, the virtuous woman found in Proverbs 31 truly describes Christine. She attended Vicco High School in Perry County, Kentucky, where she met her husband of 62 years, Billy Daniels (deceased). Christine also attended the Hindman Settlement School in Knott County Kentucky until she and Billy married on December 4, 1951. Together, they had seven children. Christine loved unconditionally and worked tirelessly raising a garden, canning, caring for her children and, often, nieces and nephews. Christine went on what she called "permanent vacation" in 2016 when she moved to
Georgetown, Kentucky.
Christine was a woman of faith. When asked to describe her 91 ¾ years of life, Christine said, "Well, it was up and down." She wanted everyone to know that her faith in Jesus Christ sustained her through the down times and made the up times more special. When someone asked her about the secret to a long life, she would point to heaven and say, "Putting my faith in that Man up there." Christine was quick to acknowledge the power of prayer as the key to strength and endurance.
Christine was fun-loving. Fishing and boating were favorite past-times, and she often "out fished" her husband and others on the boat! Christine loved being with family and friends, whether sitting around campfires or the dinner table. She taught others to enjoy the gift of the "present" by "being present" in the moment. Christine strived to make gatherings and holidays special and filled with love for everyone. Whether a family dinner, chopping down the Christmas Tree, hiding Easter eggs, or dressing up for Halloween, all could feel her love and fun sense of humor.
Christine always thought of others first to the point that others did not readily recognize the intelligent, politically astute woman she was. She followed politics and, in her teenage years, campaigned for local politicians. History was a favorite subject along with visiting historical sites and traveling. The destination did not matter so long as she got "road time" and got to learn something new or be with those she loved.
Christine fought the good fight. She ran her life's race with love, grace, dignity, grit, compassion, and determination. Her strength and love will be missed by those who knew her. Christine is survived by her son, William K. (and Saadia) Daniels of Nancy, KY; six daughters, Vivian Sue Daniels (and Bill Hickman) of New Concord, OH, Linda A. (and Kerry) Locke, of New Lexington, OH, Glenda Locke (and Cecil Spicer) of Jackson, KY, Sandra K. (and Charles) Clark, of Chillicothe OH, Candy R. (and Jeffery) Waite, of Marietta, OH, and Billie D. (and Arthur) Hardin, of
Georgetown, KY; a brother, Lynn Eversole (and Patsy) of Viper, KY; 13 grandchildren, Kent Daniels, Christy Daniels, Dan Hickman, Jon Locke, Adam Locke, David Locke, Rob Locke, April Lawson, Michelle Bowling, Billie Jane Senig, Charlie Clark, Scott Waite, and Deidra Lagasse; 29 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Monica Collins Wright, who provided care to Christine since 2017.
Along with her parents and stepmother, Mary Huff Eversole, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Daniels; two sisters, Justine Combs and Gladis Thornsberry; her grandson, Benjamin Locke; and great granddaughter, Anna Locke.
