Christine H. Hayes - Liberty, SC Christine Holladay Hayes, 92, formerly of Mae Street, died Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Flesher's Fairview Health Care Center in Fairview, NC. Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late King Frederick and Alice Hunnicutt Holladay. Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Paul Hayes who served in churches in Anderson, Oconee, Pickens, and Spartanburg counties. In addition to her role as pastor's wife, Christine loved the church, sang in the choir, participated in the WMU, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Christine is most fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a member of Liberty First Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Bobry Jackson and husband George, of Liberty; one son, Sam Hayes and wife Gail of Liberty; a sister, Aileen Holden and husband Ralph, of Clemson; five grandchildren, Joy Jackson Emery and husband Chris, Dennis Jackson and wife Angie, Randy Pelfry and wife Cindy, Robbie Pelfry and wife Priscilla, Rodney Hayes and wife Jennifer; and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband of 69 years, she was predeceased by four brothers, Reece, David, Stiles "Bud", and Roddie Holladay; and four sisters, Alice Holladay, Cordellia Holladay, Selma Smith, and Drucilla Owen. Funeral services will be 3 PM Tuesday at Liberty First Baptist Church with Reverends Bob Dickard and Joe Hayes, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The body is at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown where the family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM and will be placed in the church at 2 PM on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the Liberty First Baptist Church Building Fund; PO Box 207; Liberty, SC 29657. The family is at their respective homes.
