2 Timothy 4:7-8
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Christine Golmond Simmons affectionately known as Chris, MommaLu, or Big Momma was born to the late Ruth Scott Golmond Rome and Rev. Huey Golmond, Sr. in Independence, Louisiana. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized by her father. Christine was a faithful member of Kingdom Life Family Center under the leadership of Dr. Dorothy Landry Daniel, where she served as a devoted Deaconess.
On August 23, 2025, Christine gained her heavenly reward, surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 66. She was a loving and compassionate woman who never hesitated to give her last to anyone in need. Known for her warm heart, “Big Momma” found joy in cooking, fellowshipping, and spending time with family and friends. She believed strongly that cleanliness was next to godliness, and her immaculate home reflected that conviction.
For many years, Christine was a dedicated employee of Livingston Parish Public Schools in the Child Nutrition Department. She delighted in seeing the smiles on the children’s faces as they came through her lunch line each day.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: Her devoted husband, Raymond Simmons of Walker, Louisiana; six beautiful children—daughters, Julia (Jimmy) Johnson of Denham Springs, LA, Theresa Ennis of Amite, LA, Ericka Garner of Baton Rouge, LA, Johnnie Garner of Walker, LA; and sons, ‘U’drego (Danish) Golmond, Sr. of Denham Springs, LA, and Willie (Alexis) Garner, Jr. of Walker, LA; Thirty-seven grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at House of Praise, 13900 Jr. Dr., Walker, La 70785 at 1 pm until the religious service at 2 pm. Pastor U’drego Golmond will be officiating the service. Interment will be in Walker Community cemetery, Walker, La.
