Christopher John Basile

Christopher John Basile (53) of West Springfield, MA was called to Heaven, Monday, June 16, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 1, 1972 to James F. Basile and Roseann T. Basile (Maloni)
Chris was a loving son, husband, brother, uncle, Godfather and friend. He was a jack of many trades: tractor trailer driver, EMT, armed guard and, his favorite work, as an owner of rides and food concessions. He was co-owner of Basile Family Concessions (Maureens and Roseanns) as well as his prior partnership in C & J amusements. When not doing his thing, you would find him lending a hand at Maureens Sweet Shoppe, tempering chocolate, rolling peanut butter cups and making his favorites, peanut butter Oreos. He was always Maureens biggest supporter, cheerleader and advertiser.
Chris was so much more than his work. He was a true supporter of community. He was a Mason, Shriner, Jaycee and director of the Middlefield Fair. He was also a true showman which was never more apparent than when his alter ego, Lumpy the Shriners Clown appeared. As a clown, he was a balloon artist and, he stole the show at the circus as the last clown out of the car.
Chris will be remembered for his hard work, his big laugh, his generous spirit, bad jokes and as the life of the party. He was a man who made strangers feel like friends and could turn simple moments into great memories. He brought energy and joy to everyone he met. He loved fiercely and loyally.
Chris was predeceased by his mother, Roseann and is survived by his loving wife, Maureen (Dempsey), his beloved dog, Chloe, his Father, Jim Basile, his sister and brother in law, Deborah and Richard Katsanos, his brother and sister in law, Jim and Laurie Basile and his several nieces, nephews, Godchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and those he chose as family.
Visiting hours for Chris will be held on Sunday, June 22nd from 1-4 pm at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA. A funeral will be Monday, June 23rd beginning at 9:15 am from the funeral home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial, to be celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker Street, Springfield, with a burial following in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
