Christopher M. Breen, 40, of South Windsor, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 23, 2026. He was born on May 10, 1985, in Hartford, one of three children to Timothy P. Breen and the late Sherlie (Gaffney) Breen.
Chris was a passionate artist, whose life was filled with music, creativity and kindness. He loved playing the guitar and found joy in sharing music with those around him. A true animal lover, he even befriended the neighborhood critters, a small reflection of his gentle spirit. A devoted uncle to Sophia and Jackson, he cherished his family deeply. As a cancer survivor, he faced hardship with courage and strength, never allowing it to dim his creativity or compassion. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In addition to his father, Chris is survived by his two sisters, Jennifer Gnatek and her husband, Andrew of Enfield, and Erin Breen of South Windsor; his niece and nephew, Sophia and Jackson; his uncle, Michael Breen and his wife, Patricia, of Pomfret Center; his aunts, Margaret Dubel and her husband, Patrick M. Dubel of Vernon, and Lorraine Gaffney of South Windsor; as well as many cousins. He was predeceased by his mother and several aunts and uncles.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 29, beginning at 11 a.m. at St. Junipero Serra Parish – St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Rd., South Windsor. All guests are kindly asked to go directly to the church. At the request of his family, burial will be held privately at a later date.
