Leonard Whitlock Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beyers Funeral Home & Crematory - Leesburg on Jan. 26, 2026.
Leonard J. Whitlock, Sr., 88, passed away on January 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Survived by his beloved wife, Grace of 68 years, together they built a life rooted in dedication, integrity, and deep devotion to those they loved. Their partnership was marked by unwavering commitment, humor, and a lifetime of shared memories.

Leonard was born in Hartford Connecticut and raised in West Hartford where he attended William H. Hall High School and the University of Hartford. He spent many years in South Windsor and Manchester before landing in Leesburg FL for the last 23 years.

He devoted 36 years to the State of Connecticut, serving as the Assistant Director of Highway Engineering for the Department of Transportation. He retired in 1992, proud of the work he accomplished and the colleagues he worked alongside.

Leonard joked that he was not an avid golfer but had a passion for golf. He was a long-time member of Manchester Country Club, and an equity member of the Monarch at Royal Highlands in Leesburg FL. He spent many years coaching in the South Windsor Little League, creating cherished memories and helping shape his 3 son's enthusiasms for sports. He loved cheering on the UConn Men's and Women's Basketball Teams and remained a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Above all, Leonard was a family man. In addition to his beloved Grace, he is also survived by his five children: Leonard Whitlock, Jr (Susan Anderson), Thomas Whitlock, Susan Garvey (Kevin), Robert Whitlock, and Kathleen Kondratovicz (Jon). He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren: Jessie Cormier (Justin), Drew Whitlock (Elizabeth), Alison Sullivan (Oliver), Shannon Garvey (Kayla), Shayne Garvey, Grace and Jack Whitlock, Samantha, Robert and Kara Kondratovicz. He had 4 Great Grandchildren: Jonah, Jemma and James Cormier, and Julian Whitlock.

Leonard's legacy lives on in the family he nurtured, the communities he served, and the many lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and steady presence. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A private family service will be scheduled at a later date.
