Christopher Bursenos Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jefferson Funeral Chapel - Alexandria on Apr. 22, 2025.
It is with immense sadness that we share the passing of Christopher James Bursenos, 76, of Lorton, VA. He passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Jane and James Bursenos; his two brothers, Peter James Bursenos (Lynn Bursenos) and George James Bursenos (Karen Bursenos, d. 2018); and his youngest son, George Christopher Bursenos.
Born on November 3, 1948, in Washington, DC, Christopher was free-spirited and outgoing.
He found his strength and joy in his family. His devoted wife of 43 years, Maria Bursenos, was his rock through life's many challenges. Together, they raised their three children: Joanna (Matthew Harrison), Demetrios (Shawna Bursenos), and George (d. 2013). Christopher was also a cherished brother to Maria (Constantine Marinakos, d. 2008), Stephanie, George (d. 2024), and Peter (d. 2010); and a loving grandfather to Christopher, Natalie, Mason, and Zoie, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his daughter, Hope DelToro.
Recently retired to his wife's native Cyprus, Christopher and Maria spent a year living out their dreams before returning to the United States to battle his cancer head-on. Christopher fought a courageous fight, ultimately defeating his illness, but his body was tired, and he is now at rest.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, April 24, at Saint Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church (3149 Glen Carlyn Rd., Falls Church, VA 22041) beginning at 10:00 a.m. for visitation, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park (9900 Braddock Rd., Fairfax, VA 22032).
