Christopher DeBolt Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Dec. 16, 2025.
Christopher Patrick DeBolt was born on October 2, 1963, and passed from this life on December 14, 2025. Chris leaves behind a legacy defined by hard work, curiosity, humor, and a deep love for family, music, and learning.
Chris rose early, ready to tackle the day, always keeping a mental checklist, and a running tally, of everything he accomplished. He took great satisfaction in productivity, no matter the task. Chris delighted in overdelivering on work quality. No job was too small to be done well.
A skilled cook in any kitchen, Chris ruled the home kitchen with confidence and joy, and his family happily let him take charge. He often cooked while singing along to Kings & Country or belting out a favorite Michael Jackson tune. His famous Christmas morning breakfast casserole became a cherished tradition, one his family is determined to continue, even in his absence.
Chris was incredibly handy and could fix just about anything. As a skilled mechanic, he spent many years in the automotive industry and went on to own two Meineke locations. His integrity, dedication to quality service, and insistence on doing things the right way helped countless families over the years. He was well liked and respected by both peers and employees, known for pairing high standards with a friendly sense of humor.
He also served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, a time he cherished deeply, especially the friendships he formed during his service. Music was a constant joy in Chris's life. He loved classic tunes by ABBA, Dolly Parton, and Michael Jackson, often turning everyday moments into his own personal concert. He enjoyed attending the theater, where musicals and plays fed his appreciation for the dramatic. At home, he loved The Lord of the Rings trilogy and made sure to see every Harry Potter movie. A devoted sports fan, Chris followed the Oklahoma City Thunder during basketball season and cheered passionately for the Oklahoma Sooners year-round, from softball to football.
When the weather cooperated, Chris could be found fishing or on the golf course, always trying to beat his previous score. Though he readily admitted to being a less-than-average golfer, he played for the joy of the game and the laughter, never missing an opportunity to crack a joke or lighten the mood.
One of Chris's most unforgettable traits was his near-encyclopedic knowledge, particularly of obscure and fascinating facts. He had a special interest in U.S. Presidents and delighted in details most people never knew, such as which president famously got stuck in a bathtub. Chris devoured information from books, online reading, and conversation, and he loved sharing what he learned. A casual comment could quickly turn into a history lesson, leaving listeners both entertained and enlightened, sometimes learning things they never expected to know. His humor, friendly nature, and curiosity made every conversation with Chris memorable.
Christopher Patrick DeBolt will be remembered as a hardworking man with a sharp mind, a joyful spirit, and a heart that loved deeply. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, music, and lessons that will continue to be shared by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children Ryan DeBolt, Logan DeBolt, Meghan DeBolt, and Joshua Norris whom Chris considered his own son; siblings Deborah Adrian, Teresa Lanfer and husband Alan, Edwin "Lee" DeBolt, Diana DeBolt, Michael DeBolt and wife Rebecca, and Lynn Shaw and husband Jeff; his prior wife, Diana DeBolt and whom remained a dear friend; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Chris is preceded by his father Donald Lee; mother Barbara DeBolt; and his beloved black lab, Gracie Anne.
