Christopher DeHainaut Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brooks Funeral Home - Connellsville on Jan. 8, 2026.
Christopher DeHainaut, 68, of Connellsville, passed away unexpectedly at his home after a long illness, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
He was born July 5, 1957, in Charleroi, Pa, a son of the late Charles Clayton DeHainaut and Mildred Miller DeHainaut of Charleroi and Connellsville, Pa. He was a graduate of Connellsville Area High School class of 1975, where he lettered in track, competing in hurdles and pole vaulting, and performed in school musicals.
Before retiring due to illness, Chris was an employee of Gerome Manufacturing in Smithfield, Pa., where he loved putting in long days on the road in his truck. But his favorite gig was as the longtime (30 years) bass player and vocalist with area rock band DaddyLongLeg.
Chris is survived by his daughter, Jessie DeHainaut, of Chapel Hill, NC; and his sisters, Jan Ferguson (and husband Robert), of Greensburg; Lisa Rosendale (and husband John), of Greensburg; and Marybeth DeHainaut (and husband John Short), of South Pasadena, California; as well as his sister-in-law, Jacki DeHainaut, of Pittsburgh; nieces and nephews Jeremi and Nick DeHainaut, Tom and Jill Ferguson, Jake and Kira Short, and Kyle and Luke Rosendale; and great nieces and nephews Max and Lily DeHainaut, Sydney, Jake and Emma DeHainaut, and Oscar, Emmy and Maggie Wentzel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Theresa Jordan DeHainaut, and his older brother Gary DeHainaut.
There will be no public funeral service or viewing, but a memorial service and celebration of his life will be held in the spring, with information to be announced at a later date. All arrangements are under the direction of the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, PA.
