FT. LORAMIE -- Christopher D. "Chip" Drew, 60, of Fort Loramie, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 25, 2023 in his home. He was born September 18, 1962 in Troy to the late Arthur and Mary (Holtvogt) Drew. He married Amy E. Dohme January 11, 2014 in Troy; and she survives. Additionally, he is survived by a nephew, Alex Ingle of Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Ingle.
Chip was a 1982 graduate of Troy High School and was a 1995 graduate of the Miami Valley Technical Center for Law and Criminal Justice. From 1982 to 1995 he worked as an auto body painter for Troy Ford. Following his graduation he served as a police officer for the Village of Bradford before working as a deputy for the Miami County Sheriff. In 2009 he retired from the Sheriff's Department and began working for Securitas and was stationed with Emerson Climate Technologies in Sidney. Chip was the definition of a motor head; he enjoyed race cars, rebuilds, and classic cars. He was a member of the Gravely Mowers Club, a Model Car Club, and the Ford F350 Club. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed refinishing furniture and remodeling his home. He also enjoyed collecting and shooting firearms. Additionally, he had a deep love for cats. He adopted and rescued many cats over the years, especially elderly cats that were often overlooked.
A service to honor his life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral home with Pastor David R. Thomasson officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Private burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Paws Animal Shelter 1535 W. US Highway 36, Urbana, Ohio 43078. Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy, to be provided to the family, may be expressed through jamiesonandyannucci.com.
