MacKinnon Funeral Home & Cremation ServicesChristopher Lee Flaherty, 32, passed away at Mercy Medical Center, Springfield MA after a long illness. Affectionately known as Chris, Critta bug, Critta, Son, Brother, Uncle, Grandson, Nephew, Cousin, Friend. He was a cook, lover of zombies, history, music and all things Disney. He loved to debate, he was animated, spontaneous, tough, genuine and funny (especially when in the same room with Lee and Hunter). He boogied to the beat of his own music and cherished the time he got to make music with his sister Danielle. Critta was a lot of things but boring was not one of them. He was also not a bike mechanic or a connoisseur of apple pie.
Critta was born on June 7, 1993 in Falmouth, MA. He fought sickle cell anemia courageously, like a Viking going into battle. Critta was one of the strongest people you have ever met. He would never let you know how much pain he was really in. If you were in the same room with Critta you were sure to be laughing, either at something funny he said, or something stupid he did. It was constant.
He had a special way of letting you know he loved you. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. In the most recent years, working with Lee, Erin, Hunter, Beth, Laurie, MaryJane, Leslee, and Andrea on the family food truck, living with Sherry, Danie, Kristy, and the kids, sharing the book he was writing and so proud of with his family, or planning his cross-country camping adventures with his brother Andrew. There was never a dull moment with Critta around. He lived his life his way and made the absolute best of the life he had, and we can all learn something from him.
Critta leaves behind his mother Sherry (Franklin) McAdams and husband Kevin, his dad Lee Flaherty and wife Laurie, his siblings Danielle Flaherty and fiancé Kristy, Erin Flaherty and fiancé Josh, Kevin McAdams III and his girlfriend Laeann, Kylie McAdams, Jesse McAdams, Hunter Flaherty, and Leo Flaherty, his grandparents Kate and Mitch Mackiewicz, his aunts Beth Crawford, Michelle Bourgeois, and Crystal Tuell, his uncle Everett Franklin, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and chosen family. Our hearts will never be the same.
There will be a celebration of life on Sunday February 22nd from 2-6pm at Pete's Bar and Grill, 540 South St. Quincy, MA. All are welcome to attend. Critta lived his life in color. Please don't feel the need to wear black. Be colorful, casual, and fabulous. If you would like to honor Christopher's memory a donation can be made in his name to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a camp that is designed for terminally ill children and gives them the opportunity to attend a summer camp as well as hospital outreach. Critta enjoyed this camp in his youth.
