Christopher Alan Funk, a man of deep faith and unwavering spirit, passed away on November 25, 2024, at the age of 62 in Newington, CT. Born on December 21, 1961, in Mount Kisco, NY, loving son of Alton Funk and Mavis St. Clair-Funk. Christopher's life was a testament to his enduring belief in the power of kindness, the strength of the human spirit, and his love of family and of the "Good Lord Above".
Of the many jobs Christopher held as a young man, the one he was the proudest of was his work as a taxi driver. This was more than a job; it was a calling that allowed him to connect with people from all walks of life. Christopher's passengers often became his friends, and he cherished the opportunity to be a part of their stories, even if only for a short journey.
An avid Yankees fan, Christopher's enthusiasm for the game was infectious. He could often be found cheering on his favorite team, or sharing stats and memorable plays with anyone who would listen. His love for baseball was only matched by his devotion to his faith.
Christopher was a deeply spiritual man who found solace and strength in his religious community. He was an active participant of the Lifeway Church in Newington, CT before his passing, a former member of the Grace Community Church in Brewster, NY, and a former member of the Mt. Zion Apostolic Church in Mount Kisco, NY. His faith was the cornerstone of his existence, guiding him through life's challenges and joys. He cherished the friendships he made in his church life and was indebted to the mentorship and guidance he always received there.
He is survived by his mother Mavis St. Clair-Funk, loving sisters, Connie Funk O'Brien and her husband Terrance O'Brien, Vickie Gillett, and Patricia Faubel, as well as several nieces and nephews (so many to list and name). Christopher was a beacon of light in their lives, and his guidance, love, wit and irresistible smile will be sorely missed. He was predeceased by his father Alton Funk, Vickie's husband William Gillett, Patricia's husband Peter Lane Faubel, and his cherished aunt Juanita Adams.
Described by those who loved him as a faith-filled man, Christopher's legacy is one of compassion, service, and an unwavering commitment to his beliefs. His presence was a comfort to many, and his ability to listen and offer words of encouragement was unparalleled.
All are welcome to attend a visitation on Wednesday, December 4th from 6-8 PM at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac, NY. Prayer and committal services will be held (for the family only) on Thursday, December 5th at 1 PM at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, NY.
