Christopher Gehrke, 61, left this world peacefully on September 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving children.
Chris was born on July 9, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep love for his family. The loving son of Kathleen Malewig and Bruce Gehrke, compassionate brother to the late Mark and Peter Gehrke, Heidi Gehrke, and Carl Keller.
Chris was the loving husband of the late Carrie Roubik, who he now joins in spirit. Together they built a beautiful life and family. He was the proud father of the late Kristin Nestling (Shawn), Laurie Cassidy (Ron), Megan Gehrke, and Christopher Gehrke II. Becoming a grandfather was one of his greatest joys, and he cherished every moment with Aiden Cassidy, Anthony Gehrke, Kyler Cassidy, Bellamy Cassidy, Montgomery Cassidy, and Xavier Cassidy. His love will continue to live on through them, as well as through his nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.
Chris will always be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his humor that light up a room, and his way of making everyone feel welcome. He found happiness in the simplest moments-family barbeques, swimming with his grandsons, and being surrounded by the people he loved most. To know Chris was to know laughter, warmth, and unconditional love. His absence will leave an irreplaceable void in the lives of all who knew him.
A funeral service to celebrate Chris' life will be held on September 18th at Casey & Rios Funeral Home at 4540 W Diversey Ave, Chicago, IL from 4-8pm. The following day Friday September 19th, there will be a Catholic Funeral Mass held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church at 3033 N. Francisco Ave. Chicago, IL at 10:30 AM. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects.
