Christopher "Grizzzly" Bryan Gist, 68, of Jonesboro, formerly of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024 in Powhatan, Arkansas. He was born October 12, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas to the late James and Vera Gist. Chris was a United States Air Force Vietnam era Veteran. He was a computer programmer and worked over 20 years in the IT department for the Metropolitan Police Department in Las Vegas, Nevada. Chris was a member of Community Fellowship Church where he was very active and loved his church family. He enjoyed mission trips, riding motorcycles, ham radios and collecting guns. Chris was kind and gentle. He loved his family and being a father.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his brother, David Gist.
Survivors include his wife Charity of Jonesboro; son, Samuel Gist of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; daughter, Elizabeth Gist of Las Vegas, Navada and stepson, Matthew (Jessica) Cowden of Vancouver, Washington.
Memorial service will be Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Community Fellowship Church with Pastor Chad Wood officiating and military honors to end the service.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that consideration be given to Community Fellowship Nicaragua fund, 1600 Red Wolf, Blvd., Jonesboro, AR 72401.
