With great sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Morgan Nicholas Gist, who left this world on July 5, 2025, at the age of 30. Born on March 9, 1995, in San Antonio, Texas, Morgan was a loving son, devoted father, loyal brother, and a cherished friend to many.
Morgan's greatest joy in life was being a father to his beloved son, Karter Lafayette Gist, of San Antonio. Karter was the center of Morgan's world, and the love between them was undeniable and unbreakable.
Morgan is survived by his mother, Lorrena Leal Stewart, and stepfather, Douglass Christopher Watts. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Lafayette Gist. He is also remembered with deep love by his siblings: Heather Denise Stewart, Deven Lafayette Gist, and Alejandro Javier Garcia, all of San Antonio, Texas.
He was a proud and loving uncle to his nieces and nephews: Ayden Woods, Cole Woods, Karryingtin Gist, Anaya Stewart, and Mya Stewart, who brought endless joy to his life.
Morgan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Patricia Gist and Claude Morgan Gist, and his maternal grandfather, Jose Vasquez. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Paula Vasquez, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will continue to carry his memory forward.
Morgan will be remembered for his big heart, infectious laugh, and the deep love he had for his family. He was the kind of person who could make you smile on your hardest day and stood fiercely by the people he loved.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Morgan's life, share memories, and find comfort in community.
