Christopher Martin Higgins

Christopher M Higgins, 33, of Los Angeles, California; formerly of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Chris is survived by his mother, Mary F. Higgins, of Jackson Twp., NJ and his sister, Chase Higgins, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, along with his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Chris is predeceased by his father, Frank Higgins of Florida and his maternal grandparents, Martin and Frances Hedderman, of Jackson Twp. He was born in Pensacola, Florida and grew up in Jackson, NJ.
Chris was an extraordinary man. He was joyful, courageous, loving, caring, creative and had a wicked sense of humor. Chris appreciated life and gave back to those less fortunate - he volunteered on Christmas Day to help feed the homeless in LA. No matter what challenges Chris faced, he did so with a smile on his face. He loved playing online games with his cousin and playing guitar.
Chris loved nature and while in California, began to miss cloudy skies and rain so common to the Northeast. He loved visiting the ocean and found peace in the beauty of the outdoors.
While living in California, Chris was fortunate to be put in touch with American Indian Recovery Program as well as Fred Brown's Recovery Services and he made many friends and received tremendous love and support from both the staff and residents. We are forever grateful for all their kindness and love and to them and all the kind people he met along the way please remember: " Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels along the way " Hebrews 13.2.
Christopher had a heart bigger than his body. He always had a kind word and told his family how much he loved them. He was a kind, gentle soul and left this world long before his time. We will miss his mischievous smile, his jokes, the twinkle in his eye and the love in his heart. Chris is now with his beloved grandmother and we pray his soul is at peace.
We say goodbye to Chris with this Irish blessing:
May you be peaceful and happy and in the presence of those who really care for you. May your going be sheltered and your welcome assured. May your soul smile in the embrace of your anam cara (soul friend). Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free!

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Funeral Liturgy at 10 AM on Monday, March 4, 2024, at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. Please gather at 9:45 AM at the Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Dr., Lakewood Twp., NJ.
