Christopher (Chris) Young Hyde passed away on June 29, 2025 at the age of 66. Chris was born in Flint Michigan along with his twin brother, Kevin. He attended high school at Phoebus High School in Hampton VA. He enlisted in the Army in 1979 and medically retired due to a shoulder injury in 1980 and was classified as a Disabled Veteran. Chris enjoyed surfing, swimming and watching sports. Chris worked a variety of construction positions during his lifetime. He also worked as a counselor for Teen Challenge. Chris lived with and cared for his father, Richard (Dick) Grills Hyde (COL, USA Ret.) in his later years, who recently passed away on 15 December 2024 at the age of 95. Chris, like his Dad, rooted for the Cubs and Redskins. He also loved dogs, most recently Buddy of whom he took great care. Chris often attended Coastal Church in Newport News and was a strong believer in Jesus Christ. In addition to his father, Chris was preceded in death by his mother Jocelyn, who passed away in 1999. He is survived by his three brothers, Matthew, Richard, and Kevin; two sisters -in-law, Toni and Peggy; and six nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Weymouth Funeral Home. Interment will take place 2:00 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd, Suffolk, VA 23434. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
