Christopher Julius Jacobsen, age 56, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at his home after a long illness. Chris was the sixth of nine children born to Kathryn and Elmer Jacobsen. He was born July 19, 1953, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Chris attended St. Mary's school and Crown Point H.S. where he was all-conference in basketball. He played four years at Midwestern State in Texas. Twice his team played in the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City, finishing second once. Survivors include, ex-wife Desiree; siblings: Beth Jacobsen of St. Cloud, MN; Lynn Jacobsen of Santa Maria, CA; Mike (Stephanee) Jacobsen of Minneapolis, MN; Jim Jacobsen of Hanover Park, IL; Bob (Stephanie) Jacobsen of Richmond, IN; Vicki (James) Dennis of Elmhurst, IL; Alison Jacobsen of Cedar Lake, IN. Preceded in death by his parents and brother John Gerard Jacobsen. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 6 PM with Fr. Pat Kalich officiating with a memorial visitation from 4 to 6 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre, (NOTE: NEW LOCATION- 2 blocks east of Broadway) at 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN. Mr. Jacobsen graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice from Midwestern State. He worked in Texas, California for 3Com, and most recently for NAPA Auto Parts in Crown Point. Memorials may be given to the Crown Point High School Athletic Dept or the Southlake Center for Mental Health.
