Christopher Lance James, 40, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away on August 5, 2025, in his hometown. Born on December 2, 1984, in Carlsbad, Chris brought warmth, laughter, and love to all who knew him. He was the beloved son of Brandon and the late Melonie Lynch. Chris will be remembered for his infectious sense of humor, his kind and caring nature, and above all, his deep devotion to his family. He was a loving father, a loyal friend, and a man who brought joy wherever he went. Chris had a passion for the outdoors. He found peace in nature, especially while hunting or spending time at the river-his favorite escape. He was known for being funny, loving, caring, and above all, a great dad. Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Melonie Lynch; his brother, Todd James; and his best friend, Clifford Hill; his beloved dog and friend Copper. He is survived by his stepfather, Brandon Lynch; daughters, Kaleigh and Kensley; mother and partner, Kate Hanson; daughters, Jayden and Lexi; son, Chase; mother and former wife, Kimmie Wyatt; Grandmother, Cynda Newberry; Niece, Serenity James; Aunt, Ina Smith; and Aunt Brenda Zentz and her husband Tracy Zentz. His memory will live on in each of them and in the hearts of all who knew him. Chris will forever be remembered for the joy he brought to others, his loving nature, and the memories he created with those closest to him. Though his time on earth was brief, his impact was lasting. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Chris's life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by spending time with your loved ones, laughing together, and cherishing the simple moments-just as Chris always did.
