Christopher Kelly

Christopher J. Kelly, born January 25, 1944, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, at the age of 82. Chris was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend whose warmth, humor, and kindness touched all who knew him.

Chris dedicated his life to education and advocacy. He began his career teaching in the Rochester City School District, where he inspired countless students and colleagues with his passion for learning and commitment to excellence. Later, he transitioned to the National Education Association, serving as a Union Negotiator. In this role, he championed the rights and well-being of teachers across New York State, supporting them both personally and professionally. His tireless work helped shape a better future for educators and students alike.

Chris was predeceased by his loving parents, James and Gertrude Kelly; his cherished sister, Ginny Hawley; and his devoted longtime companion, Sue Reynolds.

He is survived by his devoted daughters: Christine Kelly and her fiance David Blaze; Tricia and her husband Glenn Berger; and Cynthia and her husband John Casey. He was a proud and loving grandfather to six grandchildren: Caitlynn Daniels (Nate), Alexandra Douglas (Brody), Adam Luxon (Courtney), Nathan Casey (Marie), Jonathan Luxon (Samantha), and Brandon Berger (Betsey). He also leaves behind his special niece, Stacie Hawley-Schede and her husband Jeff, along with many other extended family members including 6 great grand-children, and friends.

A lifelong sports fan, Chris especially loved cheering on the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees. He also had a passion for music and singing, participating in several barbershop groups over the years. Most recently, he was a proud member of the Cumberland Bay Barber-shoppers, where he found joy and camaraderie in sharing

his voice.

Chris had a lifelong love of animals and supported their welfare throughout his life. In honor of his compassion and giving nature, the family asks that donations be made to the SPCA in his memory.

A celebration of Chris's life will be held at a later date with details to be announced.

His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
