Christopher Mark Lawrence, 63, passed away on New Year's Day in the Intensive Care Unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Mark was born July 5th, 1959, in Nashville to the late Chickie Lawrence and John M. Lawrence, Jr. He graduated from Hendersonville High School and Middle Tennessee State University.
Throughout his career in the food and hospitality industry, Mark made many friends and business contacts across Tennessee, including long-time managerial stints at Opryland, USA and the Nashville Sounds. Although a quiet and gentle man, his quick-wittedness and dry sense of humor always attracted attention and laughs. Upon his retirement, he was a caregiver for his 95-year-old father, John M. Lawrence, Jr.
Mark is predeceased by his mother, Chickie Lawrence. Survivors include his father, John M. Lawrence, Jr.; Sister, Leslie Lawrence Pippin (Steve); Brother, Gary (Susan); Brother, John; Nieces, Lindsay Baleka and Cassidy Spaulding; And special friend, Paula Harwell.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home in East Nashville. A visitation will be held Friday, January 6th, from 12pm to 2pm. A Celebration of life will be held Friday at 2pm. Inurnment will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery in Madison at a later time.
The Lawrences would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the many members of Mark's medical team at VUMC for their professionalism, skills, and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mark's name to The Wounded Warrior Project.
