Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lighthouse Family Mortuary - Greeley on Jan. 21, 2025.
Christopher E. Laxson, 47, of Frederick, CO passed away on January 15, 2025 at University of Colorado Anschutz Hospital in Aurora, CO surrounded by family. He was born to William and Deborah (Day) Laxson, on November 11, 1977 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Chris grew up the youngest of 6 children living his first years in Michigan and moving to Elk River, Minnesota when he was 4 years old. He graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1996. While working at Target, he met his future wife, Julie. They married in 1998 and started their family in St. Cloud. After their 2 sons, Joey and Timmy, were born, they had the opportunity to move to Colorado where Chris was offered a new position within the electronics company that he worked for. They made their home in Frederick, CO and fell in love with the small town community. They welcomed a daughter, Jadey, to their family a few years later.
Chris worked in the electronics industry for several years and then transitioned to the software industry where he excelled at being an expert in his field both with tax software and the latest, renewable energy software. Service and Support were his specialties and he especially loved to geek out about anything in Excel. Chris and Julie continued to call Frederick their home for over 20 years.
Chris loved the outdoors, especially taking his Jeep out and going off roading. Through his Jeeping adventures, he made many amazing and life-long friends and got to explore the beautiful mountains of Colorado and beyond. When he managed to stay home, he enjoyed tinkering in his garage workshop, wrenching on vehicles, grilling and smoking his favorite meats, and helping his friends and family with any task that needed his assistance. If he didn't know how to do something, he would figure it out. He was also an avid volunteer in his community, from co-chairing the local Relay For Life charity walk for American Cancer Society, to organizing community cleanups with Boulder County Open Space and the 2015 Flood Recovery, just to name a few.
Through Chris's cancer journey, he especially found joy in starting to restore his high school little red Ranger pickup truck that, with the help of his family, he was recently reunited with. He had lots of plans to return it to its former glory and then some. The family plans to continue the restoration in Chris's memory to achieve his dream.
Above all, Chris loved and adored his family, especially his wife, kids, and grandkids. His family and friends will always remember him for his sense of humor: from his jokes, to funny memes, to his ability to find the fun and light-hearted side of any situation. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; children, Joey Laxson (Kaitlynn), Timothy Laxson, and Jadey Laxson; Grandchildren, Kameron, Ashton, and Carsyn; mother, Deborah Laxson; siblings, Tina Laxson, Bill (Patty) Laxson, Donald (Michele) Laxson, Alan (Brandi) Miller, Beth (Josh) Kujava and many other extended family and friends.
Christopher was preceded in death by his father, William E. Laxson Jr.
