Christopher Edmond Monteith, 37 of Haywood County, formerly of Jackson County, gained his heavenly wings on Sunday, March 16, 2025. Chris was born on July 8, 1987, in Jackson County.
Chris had a laugh that was contagious and a smile that would light up any room. A caring and giving heart, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Chris was an avid Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and Duke Blue Devils fan. He was a collector of shoes and caps. You rarely saw him without a cap on his head. Chris was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church in Waynesville. He was employed by H.T. Hackney.
Chris was pre-deceased by grandmothers Jessie McFalls and Joyce Sutton, grandfathers Bud McFalls and Ervin Monteith, bonus grandfather Lane Allman, his Aunt Gail Ashe and Uncle Paul McFalls.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother Judy Allman and bonus dad Toby Allman (aka Homie), father Eddie Monteith, brother Michael Monteith (Brittney), grandmother Brenda Seagle, bonus grandmother Arlene Allman, nephews Hunter, Greyson, Jaxson, and Petey, and niece Evee. Chris also leaves behind beloved Aunts and Uncles that he adored: Mae Stephens (Huty), Ben McFalls (Cindy), Clara Nicholson (Delane), Terrell McFalls, Glana Vickers (Arnold), Eddie Ashe, Tommy Sutton (Robbie), Bonus Aunt Gwen Lindsay (Michael), and Special Aunt Debbie Buchanan. Numerous cousins and extended family members also survive. Too many to count but he loved them all dearly.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva, NC, at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Reverends Mike Cogdill and Scotty Patrick will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for help with expenses.
