Christopher "Sean" Oestreich, 59, of Springfield, Missouri, was born on July 3, 1966, in
St. Louis, Missouri and grew up in nearby Kirkwood, Missouri. Sean passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, at his home on Table Rock Lake. This was his happy place, and he got to spend his final day on the water with his wife and friends. Sean lived a life filled with love for the outdoors. Whether it was fishing, hunting, scuba diving, boating, swimming, grilling, or even working in the yard, he found joy and purpose in being outside and sharing those moments with others. One of his favorite sayings about the lake was, "If you could do this every day, why wouldn't you?"-a reflection of his outlook on life and his appreciation for the simple pleasures that made him happiest. Sean also deeply valued friendship and connection. He was always the life of the party, quick with a laugh, and happiest when surrounded by people he loved. His group of childhood friends has kept their bond strong, getting together every year for 41 consecutive years, living by the words of Elton John & Bernie Taupin.."if your friends are there, then everything's alright.." Professionally, Sean was hardworking and dedicated to providing for his family. He began his career in insurance, transitioned into property restoration, and ultimately built and grew an environmental air quality business into the successful company it is today. His interactions have made lasting impressions on so many people through his work. Sean was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Carly, who passed away in 1995 at just six weeks old. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Laura Oestreich; his children, Ryan Oestreich and his wife Hayle, and Jane Smith and her husband Sawyer; and his two granddaughters, Ella and Anna, both of whom he was able to meet and spend cherished time with. He is also survived by his mother, Virginia Garesché, and his sister, Shannon Oestreich Thomas. Father William Oestreich. In laws, Don and Teresa Sinclair. Sean will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his humor, his love of friendship, his ability to make others feel welcome, and his hugs. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sean's memory to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital ( www.stjude.org/donate or 501 St Jude Place,
Memphis, TN. 38105 ) We believe this is what he would have wanted as a kind and generous son, father, husband, brother, and friend.
Fisherman's Prayer I pray that I may live to fish Until my dying day And when it comes to my last cast, I then most humbly pray: When in the Lord's safe landing net And peacefully asleep That in His mercy I be judged Good enough to keep.
