Christopher Penny Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCalla Memorial Funeral Home on Jan. 19, 2026.
Christopher Lee Penny, age 52, passed away on January 17th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy shaped by hard work, responsibility, and meaningful growth.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years: Michelle Penny; children: Erika (Drake) Crumpton, Kaylee Penny, and Christopher Lee Penny Jr. "CJ"; grandchildren: Ryker, Carsen, Paisley, and Mayci-Kate; mother: Marcia Ann Penny; brothers: Anthony (Kelly) Penny and Brian (Katie) Penny, and his beloved nephews, along with extended family and friends.

Chris is preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Lee Penny Jr., whose passing profoundly shaped the man he continued to become, and by his grandparents: Woodrow Lee Penny, Sr., Nina Mae Penny, Carol Ann Harmon, and Marshal Tillman Sims "Pete".

Throughout his life, he was a devoted provider. He understood the value of work and took pride in ensuring that those he loved were cared for. Dependable and steady, he fulfilled his responsibilities with determination and perseverance.

In recent years, especially after his father's passing, his life took on deeper intention and purpose. He became more mindful of the importance of family and connection. He made it a priority to check on his mother, stay close to his brothers, and build stronger relationships with his nephews. These moments of care, presence, and effort reflected a man who had grown and chosen to lead with love. He showed up, not out of obligation, but out of genuine care. His actions spoke clearly of a good man who was intentional with his time and relationships, and whose love was felt deeply by those closest to him.

He will be remembered not only for his strength and willingness to provide both physically and emotionally but for the man he grew into, one who valued family, showed up with intention, and understood that love is best expressed through presence; for smiling no matter what life threw at him and finding humor to bring everyone together in the light he shone. His final chapter was one of growth, connection, and grace, and it is that chapter his family will carry forward. The hole he leaves behind will never be filled. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

Father and son together again, watching over us. Until we meet again.
