Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brookside Funeral Home and Crematory (Yakima) - Moxee on Jan. 29, 2026.
With deep sadness and affection, we acknowledge the passing of Christopher Louis Perez, fondly known as Chris or CP or Pezer. He was born on January 16, 1972, in Yakima and suddenly left us on January 3, 2026. Those who knew Chris can attest to his resilient spirit, unwavering loyalty, sharp wit, and ambitious nature. An ardent Seahawks fan, he was a beacon of light during football season, always hosting games on his best and biggest TVs, with an Alexa in every room ready to settle any sports-based disputes. He was a man of many passions, which included football, baseball, WWF wrestling, barbecuing, and a love for Nascar. Chris was also generous especially during his favorite holiday - Christmas where he spent months festively decorating.
Chris grew up in Naches where he graduated from high school and made lots of great lifelong friends and memories. He then earned his BA in Law and Justice from Central Washington University. Chris then began his career as a dedicated Parole Officer at the Department of Corrections for over 23 years, making a significant impact on the lives of many. Chris was a well-known and respected staff member who worked with our community and was especially known for his connections, liaison work, and collaboration with our local law enforcement. Chris was a kind-hearted team player, a natural leader, and a person who was always there to help. During his time with D.O.C. he also assisted in the growth and development of staff as he was a taser instructor, firearms instructor, and was one of the first C.C.O's to work with the Gang unit in Yakima County.
Chris was a protector, always looking out for his loved ones. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving parents, Karol and Jim Asher, his caring father, Joe Perez, his dear siblings Kimberly, Shelley, and Gary, his cherished niece, Lila, his fond aunts and Uncles, including, Mike Kearby, Don and Kathy Frank, Lottie and Bruce Turner, and Dottie and Ronney Brennecke and Linda Kearby and many cousins including Juston Kearby and Sean and Jocelyn Frank.
He is proceeded in death by his grandparents, Betty and Bill Kearby, Andrew and Ella Mae Asher, his uncles, Steve and Bill Kearby.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Chris' life on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the Brookside Funeral Home in Moxee, Washington. We encourage you to share your memories of Chris, upload photos and commemorate his life on the memorial page. His life was a testament to resilience, loyalty, wit, and ambition.
