Douglas Simon

Douglas Simon, age 82, of Wenatchee, WA, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, after a long and fiercely fought battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family at home when he left to meet the Lord.

Doug was born on June 4, 1943, at Deaconess Hospital in Wenatchee, WA, to Mahlon and Charlotte Simon, who were pioneers and apple farmers of the Wenatchee Valley. He graduated from Eastmont High School, where he was known for his musical talents. There, he played piano with the Panamas, and afterwards continued performing as a tenor in the all-male singing group, the Apollo Club.

Doug attended Wenatchee Valley College, Central Washington, and Washington State University before following in his father's footsteps as an apple and cherry farmer. He meticulously cared for his orchard, which mainly produced red delicious and golden delicious apples.

During his college years, Doug met his beloved wife, Everal Dorothy Roloff, on a blind date while Everal was attending Silers Beauty School in Wenatchee. They married on August 21, 1965, at Central Christian Church and recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.

Doug was a family-oriented man: a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He never missed his son's football games or his daughter's ballet performances. On every visit, he took his grandchildren out for ice cream, his all-time favorite treat. He always cherished his time with loved ones.

Doug had a passion for cars and spent numerous weekends traveling with friends and family to "rod runs," where he proudly showcased his custom-built street rods. Later in life, he developed a passion for collecting radio-controlled cars, Lego cars, and model trains. He loved showing visitors these collections, taking pride in each model's special features and mechanics.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Everal; children Janelle Engley (Gerald) and Chris Simon (Laurie); grandchildren: Taisha Dry (Jason), Reale Jakubal, Andrew Engley, and Claire Engley; and brother Sid Simon (Jan). He was preceded in death by his parents, Mahlon and Charlotte Simon.

Doug's family extends heartfelt thanks to the oncology and hospice teams at Confluence Health for their compassionate care, kindness, and unwavering support during his final journey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Heritage Memorial on February 13 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, please spend time with your loving families.
