Christopher Derrick Russell, age 48, passed away on May 29, 2025. He was born on July 26, 1976, in
Corpus Christi, Texas, to Mary Jean and Herman Cecil Russell, and was raised in the community he always called home. Christopher graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 1994.
On November 18, 2000, Christopher married the love of his life, Erica. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, perseverance, and devotion over their 24 years of marriage. A true entrepreneur at heart, Christopher was the proud owner of South TX Trolling Motors & Propane, where he blended his passion for business with his deep-rooted ties to South Texas.
Christopher was many things to many people-a devoted son, a loyal husband, a proud father, a dependable brother, a cherished cousin, a trusted friend, and a mentor to many. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life-fishing, hunting, coaching, and mentoring others. Yet above all, Christopher's greatest legacy is the love he so freely gave.
As a son, he honored his parents with unwavering respect and care. As a husband, he drew strength from Erica's love and wisdom, building a partnership grounded in mutual support. As a father, he poured his heart into his children, celebrating each of them as individuals and guiding them with confidence and compassion.
Christopher's life was a ripple effect of generosity, faith, and confidence rooted in the strength of his parents and the love of his wife and children. He was not an ordinary man; he was a force of nature whose spirit and mindset transformed everyone he met. His light shines on in the dreams he inspired, the lives he nurtured, and the family he loved so fiercely.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond and Mary Ann Benes, his grandfather Herman Cecil Russell Sr., and his uncles Jerry Ray Benes, Michael Roderick Russell, and Steven Russell.
Christopher is survived by his loving parents, Mary Jean and Herman Cecil Russell; his beloved wife, Erica Russell; and his children Destiny Russell (and her husband Albert Guerrero), Lauren Russell, and Christopher Russell.
