It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Christopher Cody Samford at the age of 43. Cody was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend whose kind heart and generous spirit touched all who knew him.
A celebration of Cody’s life will be held on February 21 at All Faiths Funeral Services located at 8507 N Interstate 35 Frontage Rd, Austin, TX 78753. A private gathering for immediate family will take place from 5:30 to 6:00 PM, followed by a memorial for extended family and friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. After the service, friends and family are invited to continue celebrating Cody’s life at The Brewtorium Brewery & Kitchen, located at 6015 Dillard Cir A, Austin, TX 78752.
Born on December 18, 1981, in Austin, Texas, son to Nancy Samford and the late Mike Samford. Cody followed in the footsteps of his father and began working at a young age for his family's business, Samford and Associates Land Surveying. Over the better part of 30 years, he learned every aspect of the trade, dedicating himself to hard work and integrity, and eventually took over the business when his father retired. He carried on the family legacy with pride and commitment, ensuring that his father’s work lived on through him. He was a mentor and friend, guiding his son-in-law into a career in land surveying as well. Cody was an avid gun lover and was a proud supporter of “Come and Take it”. He loved to go fishing with his friends and family in all types of bodies of water. He was not afraid of an adventure and always wanted to learn new things. Above all he loved his family and friends.
Cody was preceded in death by his father, whom he greatly admired. He is survived by his ex-wife and partner Audrey Samford; three daughters and two son-in-laws, Gabrielle Davila (Christopher Peek), Alexandria Davila (Ryan Sisneroz), and Anna Prochnow; and one son and his fiancé, John Robert Ramirez (Desiray Ortiz); several grandchildren Mia, John Robert Junior, Lia, Jesse, Jacob, Zealand, and Samuel; and one brother Jon Samford and his children Ethan and Gavin; and his loving mother, Nancy Samford. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Cody had a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand—whether it was letting someone borrow some tools, helping to fix what was broken, or simply offering a listening ear. He was the protective dad, fun uncle and a reliable friend. He was a man of kindness and quiet generosity, always putting others before himself. His warmth, humor, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May he rest in peace, forever loved and never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Cody’s memory by making a donation to Texas Parks and Wildlife, an organization that reflects his love for nature and the outdoors.
