Christopher Charles Simo, 54, of Norwell, MA passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones after a five-year battle with cancer. Chris was the beloved husband to Gretchen Spratt, with whom he celebrated 20 years of marriage in May, and dedicated father to, Molly and Zack, as well as beloved son-in-law to Cynthia "Mimi" (Linn) Spratt who lived with them and their many four-legged companions. Chris is also survived by his parents Stephen and Mary Jane (Short) of
Whitman, MA, as well as his brother Stephen, wife Erica, and nephew Tyler of West Greenwich, RI.
Chris was a 1989 graduate of Whitman-Hanson Regional High School, where he was a proud member of the ice hockey team. He went on to earn his B.A. in Economics from Connecticut College, where he developed his passion for rugby (playing all 4 years), and formed many lifelong friendships still in place today.
Chris had a successful career as an IT Strategy Consultant, including 18 years with the Exeter Group, which afforded him the opportunity to combine his personal interest in tech with his professional life as well as to travel the globe, racking up frequent flier miles that came in handy these past years. Similarly to Conn College, Chris amassed a second group of close friends while at Exeter.
Chris enjoyed the outdoors and staying active – mountain biking, skiing, playing hockey, boating, grilling and frying with friends, and sitting outside with his golden retriever Mabel. His love of the Celtics, New England Free Jacks, and the Bruins were well known. Watching the Celtics take Game 7 of the NBA Championship with Zack and the New England Free Jacks Championship three-peat as the MLR champs with friends this past summer were two highlights that gave Chris immense pleasure.
Travel was important to Chris as it allowed him to make memories and stay connected with his family and network of friends. Whether to see the seals in Seattle with Molly, cruising the Caribbean with Zack, exploring Iceland, Paris, and Switzerland with his family, adventuring to South Africa with colleagues, or traveling the world to watch rugby. Chris lived his life with gusto and vigor. The pace with which he lived and adventured astounded and inspired all who knew him.
As an avid reader, Chris was always up for a friendly conversation (or debate) about the latest in economics, technology, and politics. His gregarious nature, sincerity, loyalty, and warmth touched everyone he met, and the sound of his laughter will echo in our hearts forever, a cherished reminder of the joy he brought to his family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, in Whitman for visiting hours on Saturday, September 27, from 10am-11:45pm with a service to follow at 12:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family, kindly request donations in Chris' memory to the Leptomeningeal Cancer Foundation.
