Christopher J. Weidert, 40, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday morning, October 8, 2025, at I.U. Methodist Hospital. He was born October 12, 1984, a son of Steven and Debby (Gill) Weidert.
A 2003 graduate of Chrysler High School, Chris also graduated from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He worked at Bell Vending and Canteen before acquiring an Edward Jones office in New Castle, where he spent the past several years as a Financial Advisor.
Chris was a member of the Elks Lodge #484 in New Castle, loved to travel, was an avid golfer, enjoyed four-wheeling, and loved his Mustang. He coached high school soccer for several years and coached his sons’ sports teams.
A great husband and father, as well as a true friend to many is a good definition of Chris Weidert. He surrounded himself with a host of friends who meant the world to him and Krista. He was always willing to help anyone in need and was absolutely devoted to his wife and sons.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 15 years, Krista G. (McClurg) Weidert of New Castle; his two sons, Cooper J. Weidert and Connor A. Weidert, both at home; a brother, Jonathan (Kathy) Weidert of MI; his father and stepmother, Steve and Denise Weidert of New Castle; in laws, Marlena (Gary) Wray of New Castle, and John (Rachael) McClurg of New Castle; nephews, Isaac Weidert and Garrett McClurg, and a niece, Aubree McClurg; brother in law, Brad (Jordan) McClurg of New Castle; grandmothers in law, Nell Cox and Sharon McClurg, both of New Castle; aunts, uncles and many extended family members and a host of friends who all loved him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Debby K. Weidert and a sister, Kathryn Ann Weidert, both in 2012; grandparents, Anabelle Weidert, Donald and Iris Gill and Harriett Gill.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with a Service of Remembrance following at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, windchimes and afghans, please send donations in Chris’ memory to the escrow fund for Cooper and Connor Weiderts’ education, c/o Citizens State Bank. Donations may be dropped off at Citizens State Bank or Hinsey Brown Funeral Service. Condolences and memories of Chris may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
Going to I.U. basketball games with their daddy was one of Cooper and Connor's favorite thing to do. So in honor of Chris, they request you wear your I.U. gear or something red to the visitation and service on Sunday.
