Christopher Collins Whitaker

Christopher Collins Whitaker, age 66, of Griffin passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025 surrounded by his devoted family. Chris was born in Americus, Ga, on July 29, 1959. He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Claire Collins Whitaker and step-mother, Sue Whitaker. Chris built a successful career with Conwed Plastics and retired at the age of 53 to embrace the life he loved the most - one filled with family, fresh air, and simple joys. Whether attending to his yard, working in his garden, casting a line, or sharing stories around the table, Chris found his greatest happiness outdoors and playing with his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family and will always be remembered as a playful, funny, and loving Opa, who brought giggles and smiles to all our faces. Chris was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Griffin, where his faith and fellowship were cornerstones of his life. Chris's legacy will live on in the warmth of his relationships, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving husband, dad, and Opa, Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Romy Whitaker; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Steffen Graefinger, Michelle and Kevin Assari; four grandchildren, each of whom he adored with unwavering affection, Hanna Maria and Eva Marie Graefinger, Enzo Christopher and Adelaide Grace Assari; father, Doug Whitaker; sisters, Angie Arwood and Amanda Whitaker; brother, Rob Whitaker; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and many lifelong friends also survive. In keeping with Chris's love for the outdoors, a Celebration of Life will be held for Chris on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 12:00PM to 2:00PM at Sanctuaire Atelier, 525 Lakeside Road, Williamson, Ga. 30292 In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Carter Center at www.cartercenter.com in memory of Chris.
