Chue X. Yang, age 77, was called home on November 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Known for her radiant and infectious smile, Chue possessed an extraordinary gift for nurturing children and loved ones, maintaining lifelong friendships, and being a profound prayer warrior.
Chue was born on June 4, 1948, in Phuam eeb, Nyab Laj Teb (Vietnam) to the parents of Nao Tou Xiong (father), son of Tong Yia "Zoo Nraug" Xiong (grandpa), and Houa Vang (mother). Chue grew up in Naj Kiam, Nplog Teb (Nong Khiaw, Laos), with her siblings: Nhia Pao (older brother), Va (elder sister), Chao (also known as Nao Shoua Xiong) (younger brother), and Mo Ying (Little Sister). Houa Vang would become widowed and remarry Shong Pao Lor (loving stepdad). Chue later had two half-brothers, Teng and Hue Lor.
In 1963, Chue married Ntsuab Lwm Yaj (also known as Joua Lue Yang) and would later welcome their first child, a son named Fong. In 1974, Chue gave her life to Christ. It was her stepfather, Shong Pao Lor, a shaman, who had encouraged her to seek protection from spiritual warfare through Christianity and God's love. Her husband and son soon followed and gave their lives to Christ.
In 1980, Chue, her husband, and Fong immigrated to the United States. A Lutheran Christian family sponsored and resettled them in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While living in Laos, Chue and her husband struggled with infertility for over ten years and had only been able to have Fong. After arriving in Milwaukee, God blessed them with four additional "miracle" children: David, Xong Sony, Jerry, and Tony. Chue also reconnected with her brother, Nao Shoua Xiong. Chue and her family were among the first Hmong families to resettle in Milwaukee, where they helped pioneer the growing Hmong community. They welcomed relatives and friends, inviting them to join and rebuild their lives in Milwaukee.
Chue and her husband were primary donors in establishing Lao Family Community, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Southeast Asian immigrants and refugees through education, employment, health services, and cultural preservation. They were also founding members of the Hmong Alliance Church, located at 24th and Scott Street. Chue would be called to serve the Lord through leadership roles at the church as a "Niam Nciv Num," Tus Thawj Niam Tsev Xim, Sunday school bible teacher to the children and/or the elders and loved to praise the Lord through choir and the healing power of prayer.
Chue's strong connection with children led her to join the 4C Program (Community Coordinated Child Care). The nonprofit organization supported families and childcare providers with resources and training. Over the years, Chue earned numerous achievements and recognition awards. She enjoyed taking English as a Second Language (ESL) class, along with math and sewing class, computer literacy instruction, and U.S. citizenship preparation at Neighborhood - International Learning Program (church qho av), MATC (Milwaukee Area Technical College), Lao Family Community Center, and the S.O.S (Struggle of Salvation) Center. In 1998, Chue and her husband became U.S. citizens.
From 2005 to 2012, Chue, her husband, and her youngest son, Tony, retired to their 70-acre property in southwest Missouri. There, they raised Angus cattle, chickens, guinea fowl, Thai chickens, and pigs. They also cultivated sugarcane, mustard greens, cucumber, pumpkins, and many other crops that would be shared among the knit Hmong community and church members.
Chue devoted her life to her family and the Lord. She not only raised her children but fostered nieces/nephews and cousins and loved her grandchildren deeply. She had the power of prayer, praying for loved ones and for anyone who requested it. She will be deeply missed.
Chue leaves behind her husband, Ntsuab Lwm Yang, their five children: Fong, David, Xong Sony, Jerry, and Tony, as well as daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish her memories.
