Chun Ha Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCausland Garrity Marchesani Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 14, 2026.
Professor Chun Chang Meng, known as the 'Mother of Pediatric Cardiology' in Taiwan passed away on Jan 10th, 2026, at the age of 100. Her remarkable life was a testament to dedication and compassion. After studying in the United States and earning her doctorate, she was invited back to Taiwan and helped founded the Department of Pediatric Cardiology at Veterans' General Hospital, leaving a significant milestone on the medical world. That's the reason why in Taiwan she was known as the "Mother of Pediatric Cardiology."

Her groundbreaking work saved countless babies and young children with congenital heart diseases, giving them a second chance at life. She was an incredible teacher, mentoring over ten generations of brilliant students, some of them have gone on to achieve outstanding success in the field of pediatric cardiology. Her principal was treating each patient as family and inspiring future generations to follow in her footsteps.

After her retirement, she continued her invaluable work at the Veterans' General Hospital for 10 years, dedicating her time and expertise without pay. She also established a scholarship program using her own funds to support research in Pediatric Cardiology, aiming to inspire the future generation of medical professionals in this field.

Beyond her profession, she was a beloved mother and grandmother, she had a tender heart for all living things, she loved animals and plants. Lucky, our beloved bird, was always eating with us at the dinner table, mom would always save him several pieces of bread. She adored Lucky and was always looking out for him. She also loved orchids, which flourished under her great care. With her green thumb and patience, she brought beauty wherever she was.

She was kind, gentle, generous, and deeply thoughtful toward everyone she met. However, there was one creature that she couldn't stand - cockroaches, especially the flying kind she encountered in Taiwan. Her small fear of flying cockroaches became a sweet, human reminder of her warmth and humility.

Her life was a gift to many, and her love, wisdom, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Today, we take comfort in God's promise that she is now at peace in His presence. As the Lord Jesus said: "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die." (John 11:25)
