Cindy Powell, a cherished member of the community, passed away on December 1, 2024, at the age of 49. Born on September 16, 1975, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Charles and Faye Chapmond.
For over 28 years, Cindy devoted her life to the education and well-being of children in the Lake Hamilton School District. She was known for her ability to connect with and inspire those she taught. Her legacy will forever resonate in the hearts of her students and colleagues who had the privilege of working alongside her.
Cindy was a proud graduate of Henderson State University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Science of Education in the class of 1997. Her educational contributions extended beyond the classroom; she was actively involved in her community, co-founding and leading the Pickleball group at Freedom Church alongside her husband, Forrest. She also found joy in cheering for her beloved Razorbacks, showcasing her deep-rooted commitment to both her family and friends.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Forrest Powell, and their children: Shelby (Alex) Davis, Brooke (Brandon) Wade, and Baxter Dickson whom she loved like a son. She also took great pride in being a grandmother to Hudson Creed Davis and Braxton Dewayne Wade. Additionally, she is survived by her father, Charles Chapmond, and her brother, Steve (Jill) Chapmond.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Faye Chapmond, whose spirit she carried with her throughout her life.
A visitation will be held in her honor on December 5, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home located at 2205 Airport Road, Hot Springs, Arkansas. A funeral service will follow on December 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the same location.
