Cindy M. Ternus

July 15, 1957 - March 15, 2026

Cindy M. Ternus, 68, of Columbus, Neb., died Sunday, March 15, 2026, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, with Fr. Patrick Harrison celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Memorials may be directed to that of family or donor's choice.

Cindy M. Ternus was born July 15, 1957, in Montebello, Calif., to Leo and Lila (Kruse) Uzendoski. The family moved back to Columbus when Cindy was only one year old. She attended Columbus Public Schools and graduated from Columbus High School. Cindy advanced her education into a career of hair styling, by graduating from Columbus Beauty College. She ran her own salon and worked alongside her mother in her salon.

Cindy was united in marriage to Victor Ternus on October 8, 1977, at St. Anthony Church. She worked at Bee Line Motor Freight before starting a 29-year career at Nebraska Irrigation. Cindy enjoyed camping and spending time with her granddaughter.

Cindy is survived by her children, son, Matt Ternus of Columbus, and his daughter, Addilyn; daughter, Ashley Ternus, and fiancé, Logan Bucher of Columbus.

Cindy was preceded in death by parents, Leo and Lila Uzendoski; husband, Victor Ternus; granddaughter, Lauren Ternus; grandson, Tanner Bucher.
