Citron Toy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 29, 2025.
Citron Toy passed away on August 23, 2025. Born in Los Angeles on August 24, 1930, he graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in Public Health.

After graduation, he moved to Bakersfield and worked for the Kern County Health Department's Environmental Health Division. His employment was interrupted for two years while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After discharge, he returned to his former job until he retired as the Air Pollution Control Officer after a successful 35-year career.

Citron married the love of his life, Genny, in 1958. Together they enjoyed golfing, bowling, tennis, and world travel while raising three wonderful children.

Citron was deeply committed to his community, volunteering with the Adult Literacy Program, Kern County Museum, Kern County Library, and several other organizations including the American Lung Association and Missing Links golfers. He served on the boards of the Kern Regional Center and Foundation, and Chinese Confucius Church.

Citron is survived by his wife, Genny, sons Kevin (wife Amy) and Ken (wife Christine), and daughter Lisa (husband Robert), eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara Funeral Home, 1100 Truxtun Ave, Bakersfield.
