Clair J. Pribble of Sunset died peacefully at high noon on August 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was a stubborn old goat and a curmudgeon who had a heart of gold. He was loved by everyone, and he will be greatly missed. Clair knew something about everything. He was our helpdesk, car mechanic, GPS, Google Maps, project manager, and may have been the getaway driver for midnight toilet papering shenanigans. He encouraged his children to be successful and live their best lives. He was calm in the storm, and he was always there when you needed him. He was a cat dad who loved Dr. Pepper and sudoku. His taste in music was questionable.
Clair was born May 7, 1943, in
Ogden, UT. His parents were Jack Rollo and Bette Rosetta Lowther Pribble. He attended thirteen schools across the U.S.; he returned to Utah in his senior year and graduated from Bonneville High School. He then attended Weber State University. Lacking bone spurs, he was drafted into the army in 1964. He was on active duty for two years and was stationed with the military police in Yuma, AZ.
In the 70s he developed a construction management program at Weber State University and served on their board. He worked for Ken Jones Architecture for 42 years as a Contract Administrator.
He married Sally Katie Stringfellow in 1975; she passed away in 1977. He then married Klea Hansen Nordenstrom in 1978.
Clair served on the Sunset Planning Commission and was chairman for several years. He was a member of the Sunset Commissioner Response team. He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America for 25 years and helped with three different scout troops. He was a substitute dad and grandfather for all the kids in the neighborhood or for anyone who needed one. He was non-judgmental and quick to help those in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Helen Kay Ulrich. He is survived by his wife, Klea, and all of their children: Michael Nordenstrom of Sunset; Michelle and Kraig Beaver of San Diego; Jennifer Pribble and Cindy Pinger of Olinda, Maui; Justin Pribble and his children, Logan and Katie, of Eagle Mountain. Kristen Pribble of Eagle Mountain; Kiersten and Shane Dixon and their daughters, Adelyn and Elena, of San Diego; Cameron and Kayla Pribble and their son, Maverick, of Farmington, Utah; and Charlene Begay and Eugene Nakai of Waterflow, New Mexico. Clair's surviving siblings are Bette Anne Lasley, Carol Dearth, and Kenneth Pribble.
We would especially like to thank Shyla and Anna from First Choice Hospice Care, and their entire team, for assisting Clair and our family through this difficult process. A celebration of life event will be held at Leavitt's Mortuary (836 36th St, Ogden) on Thursday, August 7th, 6:00-8:00 pm. A family graveside service will be held Saturday morning, August 9, 10:00 am at Aultorest Memorial Park (836 36th St, Ogden). All events are casual. No flowers. In closing, Clair asks that you accept people as they are, where they are, and who they love.
