Claire Marie Hare

Claire Marie (O'Shea) Hare, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on the evening of October 8, 2024 at the age of 94 in her home of 63 years. Claire was a true friend, a follower of Christ, a beacon of light, a spiritual leader, a caring and loving woman of deep faith. Claire walked through life with a gentle strength and devotion to Jesus Mary and Joseph. She touched the lives of everyone she encountered with an unforgettable grace and spirituality.
Claire was born May 9th, 1930 in San Francisco "she was true a city girl at heart". Her parents were Christopher and Catherine O'Shea, and her brothers were John "Bud" O'Shea and Kevin O'Shea. Claire was married to her loving husband Francis Hare for 57 years until he passed away in 2015. She is survived by her daughter Marie Anderson and son in law Steve Anderson, son Joseph Hare, and grandchildren Stephen Anderson (Kerry), Mary Wilson (Jonny), Bobby Anderson, Celia Hare, and Maria Esquivias.
Claire attended St Agnes School, St. Rose for High School, and graduated from Lone Mountain College in San Francisco. Post college, she became a social worker in San Francisco until she married the love of her life, Francis. Claire and Francis were set up on a blind date by a friend and Francis was an answer to her prayers.
Francis then moved her away from the "City" to the "country" aka San Jose. Claire worked at John XXIII Senior Citizen Center during the 1970's and 1980's as a program director. A devout Catholic her entire life, Claire was part of the founding members of St. Victor's Church in San Jose since 1961 where she was very active and involved with the parish. She started a Marion prayer group at St. Victors which is devoted to Mary the mother of Jesus, and the Rosary. The group continues to grow in members to this day. Claire had the most cheerful smile, gorgeous blue eyes and was beautiful inside and out. She was incredibly stylish, always dressing up her outfits with scarves, unique pins and jewelry. She enjoyed attending mass every day, spending time with her prayer group, spending time with friends, making rosaries, everything Irish and helping others. She made a point to pray for her friends and family every single day.
A Rosary is set for Friday October 18, 2024 at 12 noon and then a Funeral Mass to follow at 12:30pm at St. Victors Church at 3108 Sierra Road in San Jose, CA 95132. A reception will follow at a local restaurant.
