Clara Louise Genwright DeWitt was born on August 15, 1958. She was the youngest of seven children born to the late Mr. Vender Genwright and Mrs. Pearl Hickson Genwright in Marion County, South Carolina. God saw fit to call our beloved mother, Clara, home on January 18, 2025 at MUSC Health in Florence, SC surrounded by her children and supportive family.
Clara was raised in Marion County, SC. She attended the Public School System in Mullins, SC.
Clara made a remarkable career as a seamstress. She also worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Myrtle Beach Manor for over 20 years and later retired.
Clara was a sweet and kind soul. She was raised in a loving Christian environment. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Mullins, SC for many years.
Clara was married to the late Henry DeWitt Jr. of Mullins, SC. She now rests with the angels above. She fought and kept the faith throughout her illness.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; 1 Son: Henry Genwright, 3 Sisters: Mary Wheeler and Edella Legette, 3 Brothers: Foster, Albert and Vender Genwright.
Clara's memories and legacy will forever be cherished by her children: 3 Daughters and 1 Son: Thomasena Genwright and Tyrone Genwright of the home, Clara Genwright of Mullins, SC, and Michelle DeWitt of Conway, SC; 3 Siblings: Thomas Genwright and Laura Wortham, both of Mullins, SC, Teresa Genwright of Rock Hill, SC; 1 Aunt: Amelia Davis of New York; 6 Grandchildren: Ja'Quan, Ty'Quan, Zy'Quan, Sa'Quan, Levon and Lachelle; 3 Greatgrandchildren: Lorelle, Daniel, and Ja' Nia. A special friend of twenty-one (21) years: Richard Vereen, and a wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends..
