Clara B. Frey-Headings (Keeler), 91, of Plain City and London, passed away surrounded by family on November 4, 2025 at Heritage Senior Living in
Plain City, Ohio.
Clara was born on June 23, 1934 to Nathan Keeler and Grace Keeler (Turvey) in Mechanicsburg, Ohio. She was one of ten children.
Clara attended Mechanicsburg High School. She later continued her education by becoming a nurse. She loved caring for other people and practiced her skills at Doctors West Hospital and Madison County Correctional Institute. She also served her Mechanicsburg community as an EMT.
Clara married Lloyd Frey on June 23, 1951. Together, they created a family of seven, adopting five children. They were married for 35 years until the death of Lloyd on November 19, 1986. Clara later married Chauncy Headings in 2000. They were married for five years until he passed away in 2005.
Clara had many hobbies and interests. She loved clocks, hull pottery, jewelry, porcelain chocolate pots and antiques in general. She loved a good auction or garage sale.
Clara was an active member of the London Senior Center for many years. She was cherished by all.
Clara was a member of the Sharon Mennonite Church in Plain City since 1951. She was a quiet but helpful part of the church community there. Friends and family will always think of Clara when they think of her huge smile and the way she continually puts the needs of others at the forefront. She was exceptionally hardworking and always ready for a challenge.
Survived by her children and their spouses Brenda (Andy) Clark, Pam (Tom) Eger, Tony (Diana) Frey, Jeannie(Frey) Wilson, Jackie Frey, grandchildren Kathy (George) Clifford, Christina (James) Miller, Darren (Jackie) Clark, Jill (Ben) Titus, Brandon Eger, Lindsey Frey (Shawn), Lauren (Tommy) Glace, Chris (Brea) Frey, Jack (Christina) Frey, Dustin (Roxanne) Frey. Justin (Kayla) Frey, Fred (Erin) Frey, Britanie (Martin) VanSandt, Jennifer Frey, Dawn Frey, Bobbie Frey, sister Alfie Waldnig.
Preceding in death by husbands Lloyd Frey, Chauncey Headings, son Frederick A. Frey, grandson Billy Frey and her parents Nathan and Grace Keeler (Turvey).
A huge acknowledgement goes to the extremely dedicated and caring staff of Heritage Assisted Living of Plain City. Their care provided peace of mind and comfort for our beloved mom.
"Above and beyond" only skims the surface of these dedicated friends. They are "family" forever. Another grateful thank you is extended to the staff of Care 360 hospice. They have provided excellent support since April to mom as her needs increased. We were truly blessed by their service.
Finally, we would like to thank Dr. John Adams II for his care these past years. His devotion to mom was so appreciated.
A visitation will be held on Monday November 10th, 2025 from 9:30-10 AM at Sharon Mennonite Church 7675 Amity Pike,
Plain City, OH 43064, funeral service will follow at 10 AM with Pastor Walter Campbell officiating. Following the interment, a visitation with a luncheon will proceed.
