Clara Jamross Obituary

Clara E. Jamross passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, with the sounds of Italian music filling the room.

Born in Springfield, MA on April 12, 1936, she moved to Pittsfield the same year. She was the daughter of the late Dominick and Adeline (Balardini) Sondrini. Clara attended local schools and was a 1953 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She was first employed at the former First Agricultural Bank and later worked at Berkshire Orthopedic Associates.

Clara had a deep-rooted faith and was a devoted communicant of Sacred Heart Church. There was often a Novena candle lit in her home as she offered a daily rosary for many friends and family members.

She found her greatest joy at home, especially on Sundays, when she cooked for her family. Clara was famously known for her yellow risotto, a dish requested often and remembered fondly. She enjoyed reading, cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events, and sharing laughter and countless meals with family and friends at The Highland and Joanne's Luncheonette.

Above all, she cherished her role as a mother, and as "Nonnie" to her five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, a title she wore with immense pride.

She is survived by her two sons, Mark A. Jamross and his wife, Linda, of Pittsfield, and Paul F. Jamross and his wife, Toni, of Dalton; her grandchildren, Tyler Jamross and his wife, Laura, Trevor Jamross, Patrick Jamross and his wife, Beth, and Carly and Eric Jamross; as well as her two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Charlie Jamross. She was predeceased by her brother, Rudy Sondrini, and her sister, Irene Monterosso.

SERVICES: Friends are invited to join with Clara's family for visitation on Saturday, February 21, 2026 beginning at 8AM at Sacred Heart Church. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will begin at 9:30AM followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.

Dear Mark, Paul, and Family,

I was very sorry to hear about Aunt Clara´s passing. I´ve been thinking of all of you.

One thing I´ve always appreciated is that, as a kid, I never minded going to her house when my parents brought us along for visits. She always made you feel welcomed - and she always had good snacks.

As an adult, I enjoyed running into her at church and catching up for a few minutes. She was always genuinely interested in how things were going. Even after I moved away, I really enjoyed exchanging Christmas cards with her these past few years. It was a small but meaningful way to stay in touch.

I´ll also always be grateful for how kind she was to my parents - especially my mother. That meant a lot to me.

Please know I´m thinking of you all during this time.

Mark, Paul and your families. Aunt Clara was a force of nature. I always admired her deep love and passion for life. She made me laugh and smile. When people asked if we were related, I was proud to say YES I am. I will miss her dearly. My love and condolences to all.
